Could Sealants Be The Thing For You?
WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE TOPIC OF “DENTAL SEALANTS” DOESN’T SOUND THE LEAST BIT EXCITING —but don’t let the boring name fool you! This simple and quick procedure is one of the easiest ways to protect your teeth from cavities and tooth decay.
Dr. Puig recommends that sealants be used as preventive dental care, especially for children. This is because children’s teeth have small depressions and grooves in them, making them harder to properly clean by simple brushing alone. Sealants provide protection over these small depressions and grooves and help keep plaque from forming. Even though it’s ideal to get dental sealants as a child, adults can also benefit greatly from them.
Applying dental sealants is an easy procedure that can be done in a quick visit here at our office. After your teeth are cleaned and prepped, the sealing solution is painted directly onto your tooth surfaces. A curing light is then used to harden the sealant so we can send you on your way—no need to wait to eat or drink. Routine dental checkups will allow Dr. Puig to keep tabs on your sealants and keep them in good condition.
Sealants are oftentimes covered by insurance companies, and the procedure lasts around 10 years—making one application well worth the investment. If you have questions about whether or not it’s the right time to get sealants for your children or yourself, please give us a call, fill out our contact form or send us a message on Twitter or Facebook. We look forward to hearing from you!
